Killing cancer,not people

How do we heal our self of diseases and, still maintain internal constancy? Do we eradicate all our diseases and microbes with drugs? The human body is like a functional ecosystem where the most insignificant being plays crucial roles. Ecosystems are maintained in perfect balances in nature due to complex relationships between the producers (plants, photosynthetic bacteria and algae), herbivores (which feed only on plants), predators (which feed on herbivores) and the decomposers (which feed on the dead animals and plants). When this balance is altered, it can destabilize the entire ecosystem and trigger alterations in it. Wiping out predators from an ecosystem has several ill effects. The most prominent of those ill effects is ecosystem imbalance. There exists a delicate balance of species occupying different levels of a food pyramid. When we disturb the balance, a cascading effect is felt on the other levels of the food chain.  War against microbes is like trying to eradicate the apex predators in an ecosystem. (e.g. frogs will help keep down insect populations. If we remove all the frogs from an ecosystem, the insect population explodes). What happens is, as we annihilate these predators, we throw the entire ecological system into gross imbalance leading to other problems we never imagined. Thus, the hunter becomes the hunted. This is what goes on in microbial and disease wars. We use powerful medicines to kill the disease, upset our internal balance and, it end up destabilizing us

The analogy of food in a freezer buttresses the alternate view that the terrains of our body trump all conventional theories of disease and war against microbes. Unplug the freezer from its power source and leave the food there for a few days. All kinds of activities begin occurs to create mildew and spoilage. Then, the bugs take over. The bugs didn't crawl in; the door remained closed. They were already there to some extent, and when the terrain or internal environment changed, with cold air changing to warm.  It’s like pH changing from alkaline to acidic in humans. This explains how the immune system, with that easy to read pH indicator, determines whether viruses already exist to some extent can replicate in our body. They were always there .We feel their impact when our terrains change. During inflammation, the body undergoes fermentation and reduced oxygen utilization. This state becomes opportunistic for disease, cancers, diabetes, bacteria, viruses, parasites, and all of the bugs that were latent and inactive in our bodies. The symptoms of disease should be a road map to its source. Drugs can be used initially for interventional purposes, but continued drug dependence is like dancing on a mine field. It creates other conditions called iatrogenic diseases. The entire physiological ecosystem of the body is disrupted. Botanicals, rather than disrupt, work within the system to restore harmony and homeostasis between diseased agents and healthy cells thus creating a “no victor, no vanquish” phenomenon.

 One hundred years ago, One in three hundred Americans suffer from cancer. Then nutrition was good.Today cancer strikes one in three people. With 1, 500 people are dying each day and more than half a million people die each year from cancer, the American Medical Association‘s  response to this trend   is  eating five servings of fruits and vegetables while failing to alert the public about the real culprit- presence of rescue chemical  containing them. Conventional approaches to the management of cancer makes it  a night mare we will never wake from. It had become a bear on a spinning wheel;going round in circle. Processed foods from mal nutrition are devoid of antioxidants, enzymes and are converted into ‘killing - fats’ which serves as storage for the storage of toxins in our cells where they cause physical degeneration

Studies in cancer nutrition have shown there are certain botanicas and foods contain specific compounds that activate the watch-dog genes that turn off the cell mechanisms that make rogue cells. In addition, most cells have an address, specified by adhesion proteins, that glues cells into their proper position. For a cell to spread its abnormal form and function, it must have DNA instructions that allow it to break the bonds of that glue and to make new adhesion proteins before entering other tissues.Scientists have identified compounds in herbs that protect the watch-dog genes from damage. Research has shown that there are some herbs and foods like citrus pectin that provide lectins that compete with this glue and prevent cancer cell adhesion.

The 1998 surgeon general’s report on nutrition and health concludes that 15 out of every 21 deaths in the United States involve nutrition.

Laboratory and animal studies have shown that antioxidants nutrition  in plants  can protect cells against radiation and chemotherapy and may therefore reduce the adverse effects of radiation treatment and chemotherapy.Many vegetables and fruits nutrition  are high in  protective substances, such as fiber, antioxidant vitamins and minerals, and other potentially anticarcinogenic compounds including dithiolthiones, isothiocyanates, indole-3- carbinol, flavonols, and lignans. A randomized trial with non-small cell lung carcinoma patients showed that tumor response in groups receiving chemotherapy plus multiple antioxidantssuppliments  was better than in groups receiving chemotherapy alone. In a mouse study, a mixture of antioxidants reduced bone marrow suppression caused by radiation and immune therapies without interfering with the treatment efficacy in reducing tumor growth.  These nutrients speed up the deficient metabolic process associated with all cancer patients.The cancers which have the most protection include those with epithelial cells which line large body organs such as the lung, bladder, cervix, mouth, larynx, throat, esophagus, stomach, pancreas, colon and rectum..

 For lung cancer carrots and green leafy vegetables tend to be most protective nutrition

 For colon cancer it is cruciferous vegetables and possibly carrots.

 For cancers of the larynx, throat, mouth and esophagus fruit seems to be consistently important nutrition.

 For cancer of the stomach it is lettuce and onions.

There are at least 150 of these human studies and almost every one of them shows plant food is associated with lower risk of some types of cancer. Animals given vegetables and fruit nutrition before and after exposure to carcinogens are less likely to develop cancer.

 Some of the compounds that may be of benefit include beta-carotene, vitamin C, folic acid and fiber as nutrition.

 Cruciferous vegetables along with onions have sulfur containing compounds nutrition which may be protective against cancer.

 In citrus the substance by limonene which stimulates enzymes that break down carcinogens.

 In garlic, onions, leaks and chives there are allyl sulfides which increase the production of glutathione S transferase which may enhance carcinogen excretion. Allium compounds decrease the reproduction of tumor cells.

 Dithiolthiones in broccoli trigger the formation of glutathione S-transferase and other enzymes that may block carcinogens from damaging a cell's DNA.

 In grapes, ellagic acid scavenges carcinogens and prevents them from altering the cells of DNA.

Soybeans and dried beans nutrition have protease inhibitors which can reduce the enzymes in cancer cells, Saponins interfere with the process by which DNA reproduces which can keep cancer from multiplying.

 In fruit caffeic acid enhances the production of enzymes that make carcinogens more water soluble. Ferulic acid binds to nitrates in the stomach which may help prevent the production of nitrosamines which may be carcinogenic. Phytic acid and grains binds to iron which may help reduce the risk to cancer causing free radicals.

 The cruciferous vegetables  nutrition which include bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collards, kale, kohlrabi, mustard greens, rutabaga, turnip greens and turnips contain indoles which may stimulate enzymes that make the hormone estrogen less effective. Isothiocyanates enhance the formation of glutathione S-transulfurates. It is doubtful whether you can eat too much fruit or vegetables. Cooking may reduce the amount of some nutrients but also may free up some of the compounds available such as indoles from broccoli.

Nutrition studies on cancer 

Consumption of caroteniod and it active component lycopene have been irrefutably credited to offer protection against many different forms of cancer. The famous nutritionist and iridologist Dr Bernard Jensen had used carrot  and vegetable nutrition juices rich in beta carotene to bring  brings thousands of people all over the world from the corridors of death to the portals of life.  Beta carotene  nutrition gained notoriety as government  and corporate controlled studies linked it to increased risk of lung cancer. This is like blaming the warders for the prisoners in the jailhouse. An avalanche of studies done with ‘synthetic’ version of beta carotene on alcoholics, chain smokers and terminally ill cancer including those with exposure to asbestos were done to rationalize these claims. Imagine doing government sponsored research on walking time bombs to test the efficacy of natural products . ‘The scientific community is demanding that all cancer therapies must have scientifically based research evidence to support their use. The ‘gold standard’, often quoted, is largely limited to chemotherapy drugs and is called the ‘Clinical Trial’.  Scientists attempt to produce hard evidence on the successful performance of a drug, citing how many people in a trial group had a positive effect against an identical group taking (unknowingly) a placebo.  Various other controls are incorporated to rule out unwanted outside influences. However the rigor of exactly how many people benefit from the drug often falls woefully short when the issue of side effects is considered. These are most usually ‘touched upon’ rather than provided as accurate percentages in the same way the benefits are measured. Accurate measurements over a sensible period of time of the negative side effects of a drug are every bit as important as measuring the benefits. Furthermore, in some cases, euphoria on the positive findings is seeing some drugs pulled out of Clinical Trials before they have even completed their allotted time span. The other problem with the use of ‘hard scientific evidence’ is that, all too often, papers are presented by ‘interested parties’ with a resultant bias and vested interests.. For example in one case with vitamin E, that far from being a ‘mega study’, the scientists had only looked at 14 studies, (far less than we considered for our own report on vitamin E) and far from looking at the natural vitamin in its 4 tocopherol forms or its 4 tocotrienol forms, the only research taken by the scientists was for the synthetic vitamin E in solely the alpha-tocopherol form. (Which, for example, has virtually no proven benefit with breast cancer, unlike the tocotrienol forms)? From this they managed to conclude that ‘vitamin E could actually increase your risks of dying by 10-30%’.  Here ‘vested interest’ research is reducing the credibility of botanical remedies. With an established safety record and a fraction of the cost of conventional chemotherapy, plant compounds for cancer treatment represent an enormous resource that is virtually untapped. It is already understood that such botanic compounds support the treatment of all phases of cancer. Moreover, very often botanicals  interact with several of these targets simultaneously and often synergistically. The role of antioxidants nutrition in alternative cancer remedies 

Experimental studies show that antioxidant vitamins and some phytochemicals nutrition  in plants  selectively induce apoptosis(cell death) in cancer cells but not in normal cells and prevent angiogenesis and metastatic spread, suggesting a potential role for antioxidants nutrition as adjuvants in cancer therapy. Intake of exogenous antioxidants (vitamins E, C, beta-carotene and others) could protect against cancer and other degenerative diseases in people with innate or acquired high levels of free radicals. Antioxidation is a form of detoxification that neutralizes free radicals. This is a critical phase of the liver detoxification that occurs concurrently with actions of the microsomal liver  enzyme systems.

The significance of antioxidation to the collective roles’ of vitamin C, E, B12, bioflavinoids, beta-carotene, glutathione selenium and zinc as antioxidants in a synergistic mix derived from whole foods . A mixture of four antioxidants was also more effective than the single antioxidant in reducing the growth of tumors. Studies show that a mixture of antioxidants could be more effective than a single antioxidant in reducing tumor growth.


The mechanism of the antioxidation system as a beneficial form of nutrition.

 A vitamin C molecule  gives the ‘victimized’ molecule that encounters free radical damage a replacement electron and Vitamin C then receives a replacement electron from a molecule of the  bioflavonoid. The bioflavonoid molecule in turn receives a replacement electron from a beta carotene molecule. The beta-carotene molecule in turn receives a replacement electron from a vitamin E molecule. The vitamin E molecule then receives a replacement electron from glutathione. Any  of these antioxidant cannot work alone and deficiency of any of the antioxidants in the above mix will lead to free radical damage.Studies show that  if one antioxidant is missing in the above mix that is where antioxidation stops and oxidative damage begins.
